Karad (Maharashtra): Urging students to join hands for the country’s economic growth, Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani advised them to become entrepreneurs and provide jobs by making the best of government schemes.

The minister was addressing a gathering on Sunday after receiving the honorary doctorate during the convocation ceremony of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed to be University at Karad in Maharashtra’s Satara district. The university conferred the honour on Nirani for his contributions to social service, the health sector and industrial growth in Karnataka and Maharashtra. The varsity also recognised the social work being carried out by MRN foundation.

Addressing the gathering, Nirani explained how he overcame hurdles and succeeded as an industrialist. “Many people advised me to find a job after I completed my studies in Dharwad’s KLE College and in Pune. Had I decided to settle down in a job, I would not have become an industrialist. Several schemes have been launched as part of PM Modi’s Aatmanirbhar mission to make youth selfreliant. They should make use of these and contribute to the country’s progress,” Nirani urged.

Recalling his entrepreneurial journey, Nirani said he achieved success step by step through hard work. “Farmers in and around my native Bagalkot were facing problems in crushing their sugarcane and after seeing this, I started a small sugarcane crushing factory. This factory grew step by step and today is the country’s second largest sugar producer,” Nirani said.
