Bengaluru: Popular city-based singer Lucky Ali on Monday alleged that his farmhouse in Kenchenahalli in Yelahanka has been encroached upon by Bengaluru’s “land mafia” and named an IAS officer and her husband in the case.

Lucky, whose given name is Maqsood Mehmood Ali, son of the famous comedianactor Mehmood Ali, alleged in a series of tweets that he was being harassed by aforementioned mafia as they had been visiting his farmhouse often and threatening people on the property.

The individuals he named are Sudhir Reddy, his brother Madhu Reddy and the former’s wife and IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri. He added that Sindhuri had been misusing the state machinery. The latter, Madhusudhan Reddy, Sudhir and Sindhuri, were quick to hit back and threatened civil and criminal defamation cases against Ali.

The Reddys on their part claimed that the property had been sold to them by Lucky’s brother Mansoor Ali in 2012. Further, they alleged that a court order had granted an injunction against the singer in 2016, adding that they had been driven off the property by “ar med goons” when they went to plant saplings there. Ali said that he had tried to register a complaint with the jurisdictional Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) but didn’t receive a response.

Therefore, he had to tweet the details of the case, he said, adding that he was in the UAE for work currently. “My farm which is a Trust Property located in Kenchenahalli, Yelahanka is being encroached on illegally by Sudhir Reddy (and Madhu Reddy) from the Bangalore land mafia with the help of his wife who is an IAS Officer by the name of Rohini Sindhuri,” he said, addressing Director General of Police (DGP), Karnataka, Praveen Sood.

“They are misusing state resources for their personal gain. They are forcibly and illegally coming inside my farm and refusing to show the relevant documents. My legal counsel is informing me that this is totally illegal and they don’t have the court order to come inside the property as we are in possession, and living there since the past 50 years,” he added.

‘We bought farmland from Lucky’s brother’

Sindhuri’s brother-inlaw Madhusudhan Reddy, however, insisted that the Reddys were the wronged party. “In 2012, my dad bought this land from Mr Mansoor Ali, brother of Mansoor ali alias Lucky Ali and since then, he has been troubling us in various ways. In this regard, in 2016, we approached a court and the court has given us injunction order against Mr Lucky Ali,” Reddy said.

DGP, Home Minister take note

Meanwhile, authorities chose to tread carefully and said that they were verifying the details of the case. DGP Praveen Sood said that he is getting the details of the property documents and looking into the allegations of police inaction made by Lucky Ali. Moreover, State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that he would discuss it with Sood and will initiate action. “Verification is underway,” Sood said.
