Driver hurt as BMTC tyre bursts

Bengaluru: A rear tyre of a moving Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Cor poration bus burst to grievously injure a passenger in his leg. The incident took place during the afternoon in the Jalahalli Traffic Police Station limits.

Durgappa has been identified as the passenger who was injured in the incident. A native of Bagalkote, he is a driver by profession. He was travelling by the bus from Mahalakshmi Layout to Yelahanka on work, and the incident occurred near Vidyaranyapura.

An inner board of the bus got disengaged under the impact and crashed into Durgappa’s leg, breaking his bone. Fellow passengers rushed him to a nearby hospital and a case was registered at the jurisdiction police station.
