
3 arrested for duping businessman with fake diamonds

Bengaluru: Pulikeshi Nagar police have arrested three “fraudsters” for allegedly duping a citybased businessman by attempting to sell him fake diamonds. The accused have been identified as Nagaraj, Balakrishna and Rajesh. The police said that the trio formed a gang and began targeting businessmen luring them by showing fake diamonds claiming they were worth Rs 25 crore.
One of their victims, Vijayaraj, fell into their trap and paid them several lakhs in order to purchase the gems. Revealing the modus operandi of the accused, police said that the accused would win the trust of their victims and make them pay a sum in advance and later extort more money in phases.
Police have seized the fake diamonds from the accused. Businessman Vijayaraj had entered into a deal with the trio to buy the diamonds. However, he got suspicious only after he lost a huge sum of money to the fraudsters. Following this, he lodged a complaint with the Pulakeshi Nagar police. The accused are being interrogated by the police. Further investigation is underway
