Porter returns lost gold worth nearly Rs5 lakh, wins hearts

“In the early morning hours of 11th December 2022, a lady passenger named Sangeetha deboarded at Platform No.10 in KSR Bengaluru station. She along with her family members arrived by Talguppa-Mysuru Express. The family planned to take a connecting train to Bangarapet and after waiting at station platform 10 for nearly 2 hours, they reached platform 6 to catch the next train. During this time, she realized that a box containing around 100 grams of gold, approximately (Rs.4,80,000/-) was missing from the side pocket of her bag. She approached the City Railway Police."

Bengaluru: A woman passenger lost 100 grams of jewellery wor th Rs4,80,000 lakh at Krantiveer Sangoli Rayanna (KSR) station at Majestic in Bengaluru on Monday, only for a porter to return her valuables and ease her extreme distress.

South Western Railway (SWR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Aneesh Hegde said that Sangeeta realized that she had lost her jewellery after she had walked from platform 10 to six. However, Eizaz found the jewellery box on platform 10 and returned it to the railway officer concerned.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Administration) Kusuma Hariprasad appreciated Eizaz’s sincerity and said that he will be awarded suitably. “In the early morning hours of 11th December 2022, a lady passenger named Sangeetha de-boarded at Platform No.10 in KSR Bengaluru station. “Meanwhile, Mohammed Eizaz, a licensed porter (Rail Sahayak) with badge number 186, had found the box at platform 10 and handed it over to Sridhar, on-duty Deputy Station Manager (Commercial) for handing it over to the Railway Police.

The Deputy Station Manager immediately informed the Railway Protection Force. The items were identified and handed over to the rightful owner in the presence of railway police after the completion of legal formalities,” he added. Sangeeta then met with Eizaz and thanked him fervently
