Bengaluru: A robber who sneaked into a house in Sampigehalli was allegedly shot at by the owner during the wee hours of Tuesday. The injured accused, identified as Lakshman, was shifted to a private hospital by the owner, Venkatesh, before the incident was reported to the jurisdictional police.

According to sources, Lakshman had entered Venkatesh’s house around 2 a.m. Alerted by the noise, Venkatesh woke up and, suspecting a robbery attempt, took his double-barrelled shotgun and fired a single shot at the accused’s leg.

As the accused fell down, injured, the owner caught him and rushed him to a nearby hospital. After inspecting the spot, Sampigehalli police have taken up a case regarding the incident. Further investigation is underway.
