AAP asks ECI to prevent officer transfers ‘misuse’

Bengaluru: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday sought intervention from the Election Commission of India (ECI) and demanded that the BJP-led state government be prevented from allegedly misusing the transfer of officers. The election commission had recently issued fresh guidelines that warranted officers serving in the same district for more than three years being transferred.

However, AAP state president Prithvi Reddy alleged that the Basavaraj Bommai administration was misusing the transfer policy. “It has come to light that the BJP government is temporarily transferring officers to other districts and re-transferring them to their original districts.

The government can then claim that they haven’t been in the same district for three continuous years. We have requested the Election Commission to investigate and take strict action against such tricks by the government,” Reddy said.
