Plastics ban: Firm fined Rs 70,000

Bengaluru: Around 19.5 tons of single-use plastic covers were confiscated in three lorries - one in Padmanabha Nagar and two in Chickpet assembly constituency by the BBMP and a fine of Rs 70,000 was imposed on a logistics firm.

In addition, it was found that MMS Logistics, the organisation involved, was bringing banned plastic items and storing them in a godown and further selling them.

The said banned plastic will be destroyed in the presence of BBMP and Karnataka Pollution Control Board officials at a recycling facility located at Balakara village
