Hit Hollywood musical comes to city

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The School of Rock to be staged at Bethany school

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: The School of Rock is one of the most memorable comedies of the 2000s, starring Jack Black. It tells the story of an out-of-work rock musician who cons his way into becoming a substitute teacher in a prestigious prep school. He converts his classicaltrained students to become a rock band, much to the chagrin of their parents and teachers.

In the end, though, the children acknowledge the fact that even though he may be an imposter, he is the only adult who took the time to listen to them. In 2015, it was adapted into a Broadway musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, debuting at the West End Theatre, where it successfully ran for four years before touring the world.

Now, the students of Bethany High are bringing the play to Bengaluru for the very first time where children as young as 10 will be performing the music live on stage.

The play is hilarious, and quirky and promises to be a high-octane family entertainer with a strong message. It is the 10th Musical production by the school and the fans of the movie wouldn’t want to miss this.
