Lokayukta traps Bescom engineer

Bengaluru: The Lokayukta police trapped an assistant executive engineer (AEE) in the Bescom office of Basaveshwar Nagar subdivision on Friday.

According to police sources, the cops nabbed the AEE identified as Anand red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a resident. It was alleged that Anand demanded Rs 50,000 from a resident, Manjesh, to install an electric meter at his house.

Based on a complaint from the resident, a team, led by Lokayukta SP Ashok, laid a trap and arrested the official near Rajajinagar Main Road. A case has been registered against Anand, and he is currently being interrogated by the police.
