Bengaluru: Lock The Box Book Sale is back in Bengaluru. Bookchor Lock The Box started in the year 2017 and it was brought to Bengaluru in 2018. Earlier they established this in most of the metropolitan cities. Bookchor is a startup initiated by founder Vidyuth Sharma and co-founder Minal Sharma in the year 2015.
The husband-wife duo came up with the idea of this venture as there weren’t any book fairs organised with this enthusiasm and spirit. Hence, they began their journey of Bookchor. Later on, it became one of the largest-selling platforms for used books.
Regarding the idea behind the venture, co-founder and director Minal Sharma said, “To make the readership affordable, we came up with Bookchor. Moreover, we are a helping hand in increasing the readership of India due to our idea of selling used books”.
Bookchor receives a lot of donations from all over India through a process they call ‘Dump’, where employees go and collect books from a donating individual's house. Bookchor's reach is over 30 million. Also, the estimation of this year’s Bengaluru residents visiting Bookchor is said to be more than 50 thousand as it’s a 17-day sale.
There are around 35 employees who are working on organising this sale every year. Minal Sharma said, “I am really happy about so many readers visiting Lock The Box who also love the concept as it is affordable due to not paying individual book price but instead paying for a box”.
Bookchor Lock The Box, as usual, has over a million books including bestsellers, classics, hidden gems, Indian authors, and genres of all kinds. Many of these are secondhand so one can feel the love and smell of old books.
One can opt for the Odysseus box (Rs 1,199), Perseus box (Rs 1,799), or Hercules box (Rs 2,999) and get as many books as possible in them. All bibliophiles out there are set to step out of their hood because it’s happening from December 16 to January 1 from 9.00 am to 11.00 pm at Shubh Convention Centre, JP Nagar.
