Bengaluru: A person, in the guise of an app-based food delivery executive, was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) after the personnel found drugs instead of food in his delivery bag on Friday. The accused was identified as Abhijit, a native of Bihar.

According to the CCB, drugs and narcotic substances worth Rs 4 lakh were seized from his possession. It was learnt that the accused, Abhijit was previously working as a delivery boy for Swiggy and Zomato aggregators.

However, he left the job without returning the uniform and the delivery bag, which he later used in drug peddling. As per the notification issued by the anti-narcotics wing of the Bengaluru police, a team of cops from the CCB had nabbed the accused during an operation that was being carried out under Whitefield police station limits on Friday.

“Drugs including 3 kgs of marijuana, 12 LSD strips weighing 0.14 grams, a mobile phone, a two-wheeler, and other items, including documents, have been seized from the accused,” the police said on Saturday. The police also added that during the interrogation it was revealed that Abhijit had been taking orders from another accused who is currently in Bihar.

“The accused used to get the narcotic substance and the delivery location details from the main accused over the phone. The accused was not knowing his customers directly,” the police added. A case under NDPS act has been registered against the accused and he has been sent to judicial custody. Based on the information procured, the police have launched a probe to nab the main accused in the case.
