Lokayukta police raids Valmiki ST Development Authority offi ce

Bengaluru: Lokayukta personnel raided the office of the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation on Saturday based on allegations of embezzlement.

The corporation runs a scheme where the government buys land from the market and allots it to the poor in the Valmiki community. However, based on complaints regarding corruption and misappropriation of funds against several officials, a team led by the Lokayukta SP raided the corporation office at Jasma Bhavan, Vasanth Nagar.

The officials verified the documents and electronic devices, including the computer systems, during the raids, which are yet to conclude. This is not the first time that the KMVSTD Corporation has been raided by the police on the basis of corruption.

Earlier, anticorruption bureau (ACB) sleuths had also conducted several raids on the office and the officials of the corporation and recovered lakhs of rupees in bribes from them.
