Bengaluru: The police have succeeded in arresting two accused in the double murder case that took place in Kormangala on December 17.
The accused, Jagadish and Sunil were arrested by the police in Byadarahalli. These are the suspected burglars who broke into the house of a businessman in Koramangala second block and killed two household staff before fleeing with gold valuables and Rs 5 lakh in cash.
The bodies of house staff Kariyappa (45) and Bahaddur (28) were found on Sunday. The accused men worked for Rajagopal Reddy, who was away from home when the incident took place. After the investigation, the police found that Jagadish used to work as a car driver for Reddy.
But he was fired two and a half months ago because he was found misusing Reddy’s luxury vehicles for personal purposes and met with an accident. Once Reddy was aware of this, he fired Jagadish and appointed a new driver before taking him along with his family members to a police station and awarded him a slap. Angered by this, Jagadish plotted a plan of revenge.
He continued to stay in touch with the household staff and the newly appointed driver. On December 17, when Jagadish called Kariappa, he found out that Rajagopal Reddy was out of town attending a wedding celebration in Andhra Pradesh.
As soon as he received this information, along with a friend Sunil, Jagadish arrived at the house by auto. City police commissioner CH Pratap Reddy congratulated the team of officials for cracking the case swiftly. “During the initial probe, we had found that the security guard was missing, and hence the suspicion was on him. However, the officials found that the guard was murdered and dumped in a sump,” Reddy told reporters on Tuesday.
The duo entered the house from behind the compound, as Jagadish knew where the CCTV cameras were placed on the premises. They first entered the cellar and attacked Bahadur, gagged him, and tied him up before throwing him in an underground sump. Later, they sneaked into the house and fatally hacked Kariyappa, who was asleep in the bedroom.
