Bagalkote: Bagalkote saw the mercury dip to 9.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest minimum temperature in Karnataka on Tuesday.

“Minimum temperature is likely to be below normal by three to five degree Celsius at a few places over north interior Karnataka and at isolated places over coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours,” an official India Meteorological Department (IMD) statement said.

The temperature has dipped below 10 degrees after a break of a few weeks. IMD, however, regards December to not be winter as it begins with January. India has only four seasons: pre-monsoon, monsoon, post-monsoon and winter,” an IMD scientist said.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru’s minimum temperature was 16.6 degrees Celsius on the day, according to IMD.
