Bengaluru: Amid reports of the rise in local rowdies playing havoc in the city, a police constable was allegedly attacked by a group of drunken miscreants on the Attibele road within the Anekal Police Station limits on Thursday evening. Ranganath, a police constable, was on patrol duty in the evening when he found a group of men fighting on Attibele Road.

As the officer approached them, he found that the men were drunk. He asked the men to stop fighting and disperse. Offended by the intervention, the group allegedly hurled abuses at the officer before fleeing from the spot.

Ranganath, on his bike, chased and blocked the miscreants near Nilgiri grove in Dinnuru to question them on their behaviour. However, the men reassembled and started assaulting the cop. As Ranganath alerted the police station about it, the men again fled the spot.

A team of police rushed the injured constable to a hospital, where he is currently getting treated for his injuries. A case has been registered by the police regarding the incident and efforts are on to nab the miscreants.
