Strict action against violence during New Year celebrations
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: With the rise of brawls involving fringe elements especially during occasions like the New Year’s Eve, the city police have been directed to keep an eagle’s eye on the right wing and pro- Hindutva organisations amid New Year celebrations here.
The State Intelligence department has directed the Bengaluru police to keep leaders and activists belonging to several pro-Hindutva organisations in check. Recently members from a pro-Hindutva organisation had approached the City Police Commissioner CH Pratap Reddy requesting him not to allow DJ nights, pubs and music during the New Year celebrations.
Soon after this, the city police were alerted that the group might create trouble during the celebrations. Meanwhile the city police have deployed officers near pubs, restaurants and party venues across the city. Instructions have also been given to the groups not to be involved in any violence or any untoward incident such as protesting, fighting and setting fire to properties etc.
The police have warned the groups of strict action if anyone is found involved in violence
