2 SRS buses gutted in freak fire

Bengaluru: At least three buses parked in the SRS bus depot near RV Engineering College on Mysuru Road accidentally caught fire on Tuesday. According to sources, two of the buses were completely destroyed in the fire.

As soon as they noticed smoke coming out of the parked vehicles, the depot staff attempted to douse the fire using extinguishers and buckets of water until the fire tenders arrived at the spot. Fearing that the fire may spread to the nearby vehicles, the staff drove them out of the depot to keep them safe.

Later in the evening, it was ascertained that a short circuit in the wires connected to a battery in one of the buses had sparked the fire. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident, sources added. The jurisdictional police and the fire officials are inspecting the spot
