Bengaluru: The BJP Government headed by CM Basavaraj Bommai seems to be taki ng huge risk by hiking the reservation of two dominant communities of the state, Vokkaligas and Panchamasali keeping in view the 2023 Assembly polls.
Following the demand to hike the reservation for the Vokkaliga community from the existing 4 percent to 12 percent and pressure from the Panchamasali community for inclusion in the 2A category in Other Backward Classes, the state government is trying its best to satisfy both communities without disturbing the existing communities in other categories.
The Panchamasali Community has hit the streets and threatened to take a big stand that would be detrimental to the prospects of the BJP in the coming Assembly polls.
On the other hand, the seer of Adichunchanagiri Mutt has threatened to intensify if the government fails to increase the community reservation from the existing 4 percent to 12 percent. After much consultation and confabulation, the government has decided to create two more categories, 2C & 2D.
