
Biker dies, pillion rider injured in city accident

Bengaluru: A biker died and his friend riding pillion suffered injuries after a speeding minitruck knocked them down from the two-wheeler near Mysuru Road in the city on Sunday.
According to the Chickpet traffic police, the incident took place around 5:15 am when the deceased, identified as Devaraju, 21, a native of Yadgiri, was heading towards City Market from Guddadahalli along with his friend. According to sources, Devaraju was a resident of Hosakerehalli here and was working as a labourer at an under-construction building near PES College.
The sources told News Trail that Deveraju had met his friends near Guddadahalli to celebrate the New Year and left for the City Market in the wee hours of Sunday along with his friend Devendrapp. As the duo was riding, a speeding mini-truck allegedly hit their bike near the tollgate, throwing them off their bike.
Devaraju died on the way to the hospital while Devendrappa suffered serious injuries on both his legs, sources added. After a spot inspection, the driver of the truck was picked up by the traffic police. The CCTV cameras were also scanned.
