BBMP to conduct 6000 tests daily

Bengaluru: The city of Bangalore once again gears up to tackle in the spike of covid-19. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has claimed to increase the testing to 6,000 tests a day due to the infamous variant's popularity in Brazil, China, and Japan. BBMP Commissioner Tushar Girinath said that based on government order tests were being conducted.
He also said that there is nothing to worry about, as the situation is under control. The mask regulation needs to be followed judiciously in indoor and outdoor environments, he added. Bangalore Urban reported 24 new cases, whereas Bangalore rural reported one case with 34 fresh cases of covid 19 in the state.
So far the positivity rate weekly and daily has not crossed 1 percent in the state of Karnataka. Out of the 24 samples sent for genome sequencing, 18 have come out negative for the current variant Omicron B7.
The samples belonged to passengers coming from Dubai, Hong Kong, China, and the Maldives. However, the sequenced samples have come positive for variants BA.2 and BA.5, and the state is yet to provide confirmation for the remaining six samples.
