Ex-employee of Bajaj Finserv held for defrauding the firm of Rs 14.21 lakh

Bengaluru: A city cyber police team nabbed an ex-employee of Bajaj Finserv, allegedly cheating the firm by using its customers' documents. The police identified the accused as Vikas, 29, a 6th Phase JP Nagar resident in the city.

A complaint had been registered with the Cyber Economic and Narcotics police station of Bengaluru Central Division by a few residents and a private firm regarding unauthorized purchases made using their details. After tracking and arresting the accused, it was revealed that he was a former employee of Bajaj Finserv and had collected documents from his previous customers.

The police said that he had used those documents to purchase mobile phones from online stores and then sell them on an e-commerce website such as OLX, at a lower price. In addition, he obtained new SIM cards using the customer's documents for the OTP authentication.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had a similar case filed against him at the Vimantal police station in Maharashtra. As per the sources, the accused had cheated the private financial firm of Rs 14.21 lakh with his fraudulent activities. Further investigation is underway.
