Bengaluru: Known for its often chaotic and untidy civic infrastructure, and a plethora of woes like waste management, damaged roads, etc., the New Year brings a new promise, as many areas in the Silicon city have started to show some work in progress, covering all eight zones under the BBMP.
For example in BTM 2nd stage various civic interventions are being carried out, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is in its initial stages of maintenance work which is expected to get over in the next two months, as promised by the BWSSB authorities.
There is a lack of signboards mentioning the work in progress in the area, which can become dangerous during the evening time due to huge traffic and pedestrian movement. However, the authorities have assured to install the signboards soon. They also said that most of the work will be carried out in the day time, to avoid accidents.
Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) has also stepped up its activities in the area and is carrying out repair work to reduce the power cut affecting the streetlights in the area. Regular collection of garbage, rebuilding of pedestrian pathways, and maintenance of the streets are being carried out by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
The 24th to the 26th crossroads in the layout are recovering from the infrastructural damages and neglect, thanks to the renewed vigour with which civic authorities have resumed work. Civic authorities have said when they receive more funds; they will plan the beautification aspect of the layout.
