City school receives bomb threat mail

Bengaluru: Panic gripped a city school Friday morning after the administration noticed a bomb threat mail. Students were moved to a safe place after a bomb disposal squad reached the school and inspected its premises.

According to sources, authorities from National Public School in Rajajinagar approached Basaveshwar Nagar police after they reportedly received an anonymous email that alleged four gelatin sticks had been placed around the school premises. Soon a bomb disposal squad along with a dog squad reached the spot and the students were shifted to a safe location. Later the email proved to be a hoax.

In an official statement, the school said that there was no need to worry as everything was safe. The police said that a case has been registered regarding the matter and a detailed probe will be initiated to find the source of the mail.

In July 2022, a similar threat mail was received by National Hill View Public School near Rajarajeshwari Nagar in the city after which the police traced it and found that a minor boy was behind the threat. The school is owned by Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar.
