K'taka Chitrakala Parishad honours nation’s 5 senior artists

CM to inaugurate 20th edition of 'Chitra Santhe' today

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad hosted the Prof. M.S. Nanjunda Rao national award ceremony on Saturday evening, along with the Higher Education Department, Government of Karnataka. Prof. Dr. Jayakara SM was the chief guest of the program. The program honoured the nation's top five senior artists.

Former Karnataka chief minister Sri SM Krishna gave the recipients their awards. Five awards were given to artists: the Prof. M.S. Nanjunda Rao award, the Y. Subramanyaraju award, the H.K. Kejriwal award, the M. Aryamurthy award, and the Devaraj Urs award.

The H.K. Kejriwal award, M. Aryamurthy award, D. Devaraj Urs award, and Y. Subramanyaraju award recipients received Rs. 50,000 in cash and a certificate. In addition, a citation and a cash reward of Rs. 1 lakh was also given as part of a national award in recognition of Prof. M.S. Nanjunda Rao, the founding secretary of Chitrakala Parishath. The Prof. M.S. Nanjunda Rao award was given to Prof. K. Laxma Goud, a renowned international artist.

He is a well-known Hyderabadi printmaker. Sri K. Vittal Bhandary, a senior member of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad and distinguished artist from Karnataka, got the Y. Subramanyaraju award. Smt. Marta Jakimowicz received the H.K. Kejriwal award. She was born in Polland and now resides in Bengaluru.

She is a well-known critic of art. The renowned art historian Prof. Rajani Prasanna received the M. Aryamurthy award. She works as a teacher and teaches art history at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad's college of fine arts. Smt. Shantamani Muddaiah received the Devaraj Urs award, the evening's last honour.

She is a very wellknown artist and works with the new media. On Sunday, January 8, the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad will host the 20th edition of "Chitra Santhe" in partnership with the Government of Karnataka's Higher Education Department. Sri Basavaraja Bommai, Chief Minister of Karnataka, will inaugurate the event.
