Bengaluru: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Saturday announced its first list of 10 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in May. “I feel optimistic about our chances”, SDPI Karnataka state president Abdul Majeed said.
“Social Democratic Party of India has been preparing for the 2023 Assembly elections for a year now. We have surveyed all 224 constituencies and going by the results, we concluded that SDPI is viewed positively in more than 100 constituencies because of our workers, network, and our booth committees, apart from our social work. Therefore, we are releasing our first list of candidates for the Karnataka elections,” Majeed added.
Abdul Majeed will himself be contesting from Mysuru district’s Narasimharaja constituency, which is currently represented by Congress’ Tanveer Sait. Dalits would be contesting on the party ticket from seats reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC).
Moreover, SDPI will also field Christian candidates. Abdul Majeed said that they have their eye on 54 seats; they would announce candidates for the rest of the seats soon. SDPI becomes the second party after JD(S) to announce names of candidates
