Businessman falls in cyber-crook’s trap, loses Rs 80 K

Bengaluru: In yet another case of cyber fraud in the city, a 47-year old businessman allegedly lost Rs 80,000 to fraudster after he responded to an order for baby diapers over his phone.

The incident reportedly took place on January 2. A complaint was later filed with the cyber police by the victim BR Mahesh, a resident of Basavershwarnagar.

The victim, a distributor of the baby diapers in the city, in his statement to the police alleged that a person who introduced himself as Amith Kumar called him over the phone and claimed that he was working in an army school and wanted to buy diapers for students.

Following this, Mahesh allegedly received a QR code from the miscreant and thinking that he would get an advance payment, scanned it.
