Four held for robbery at doctor's house

Bengaluru: In a swift action, the Kumaraswamy Layout police nabbed four persons in connection with the robbery at a doctor's house in the city.

On January 5, News Trail had reported the incident where a gang of unidentified assailants had sneaked into the house of Dr Vaishanavi in her absence and made good their escape with valuables worth Rs 7.5 lakh. The doctor's mother, Lakshmi, 57, who was at the house during the incident, was later found gagged and tied up with tapes and ropes inside the house.

''A complaint had been registered with the jurisdictional police regarding the matter. While probing the case, the police initially nabbed an accused identified as Nataraj, father of the woman who was working as domestic help at Dr Vaishnavi's residence.

Following an interrogation, it was revealed that he had robbed the house with the help of three of his associates. The police told News Trail that Nataraj would often visit the house in the pretext of meeting his daughter.

Noticing elderly woman at the house, the accused had planned to carry out the robbery with the help of three of his friends. The assailants had entered the house of Dr Vaishnavi after he left for her clinic on January 3, evening. They tied up Lakshmi with ropes and plastered her mouth.

The accused robbed valuables including 3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh before fleeing from the house. Lakshmi, dialled up Dr Vaishnavi and informed her about the incident.
