Bidar / Kolar: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday hit back at former minister and Congressman Krishna Byre Gowda for claiming that the drinking water issue had been dire in Kolar district.
The JD(S) legislature party chief said that the Gowda’s comment was “unnecessary”, pointing out that it was former prime minister HD Devegowda, who had ensured the Kaveri water, reached the Kolar district.
“Respected Krishna Byre Gowda, I don’t know what to say about your ignorance of the Kaveri river water sharing issue. When was the Kaveri tribunal set up? What role did former prime minister HD Devegowda play in gaining river water rights for the state? Please seek information about the same,” Kumaraswamy said.
He made the comments on a day when the JD(S) Pancharatna Rath Yatra reached Chincholi town in Bidar district. JD(S) has a solitary MLA in Bidar district, Bandeppa Kashempur from Bidar South. The party is trying to expand its tally in the district in the upcoming Assembly elections due in May
