Bengaluru: Madanayakanahalli police arrested three miscreants who were allegedly involved in robbing cab drivers after booking a ride using a stolen mobile phone.

The accused were identified by the police as Santosh, Bharath Rao and Gowda. The trio fell into the police net after a complaint was filed against them recently. The victim, a cab driver, had alleged that the persons had booked a ride from Madanayakanahalli recently.

However during the ride, they stopped the victim at an isolated place and robbed him of his valuables including mobile phone and wallet before fleeing from the spot. Later it was revealed that the profile from which they had booked a ride does not belong to them.

The police said that the trio were habitual offenders and had formed an alliance during their previous jail term. After being released, the accused persons took to extortion and started stealing vehicles to sell them in the neighbouring states at a cheap price, police said.

Following their arrest, the police seized three cars, three twowheelers, two auto-rickshaws and several mobile phones from their possession.
