Bengaluru: A gang of miscreants, masquerading as police officers, allegedly robbed a person of Rs 10 lakh in the city recently. Mularam, 37, a resident of Cottonpet and a cobbler who has a shop near Chamarajpet, was allegedly robbed while he was taking the cash to deliver it to a cloth merchant, Ramesh, who is also a private financier.

It has been revealed that Ramesh had lent money to several shops as business loan. On January 13, he had asked Mularam to collect money from some shops and bring it to him. As Mularam was riding up to him with the collected cash, he was intercepted by four persons who came on two bikes and asked him to stop near Sirsi Circle.

Mularam stated in his complaint that he could not identify the men as they were wearing helmets. The men introduced themselves as CCB personnel and asked him to show his bag. As Mularam was trying to explain, two of them attacked him with a blade while the other two snatched the bag and fled from the place.

Mularam, who suffered cut injuries on his hands, alerted Ramesh and the police about the incident before rushing to a hospital. The police have procured Mularam's statement and a case has been taken up against the as-of-now unidentified assailants. A probe has been launched to nab the accused miscreants.
