BBMP Chief Commissioner inspects polling booth construction works

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath on Tuesday carried out inspection of polling booths being set up in the city for the ensuing assembly elections in Karnataka. The inspection of polling booths was conducted in various areas of the city including in the Bommanahalli Zone. Besides the BBMP chief commissioner zonal officers were present during the inspection.

Tushar Girinath instructed the zonal office to give a detailed report on the facilities such as electricity, composting facilities, ramp facility, toilet, waiting room, and the help desk being provided at polling booths. Assistant Voters Registrars have been engaged in inspection of all the 28 booths of the assembly constituencies that fall under the BBMP areas.

The Chief Commissioner visited some of the polling booth construction sites in Lawrence School, Agar Karnataka Public School, Somasundara Palya government school, and Hongasandra Vijayjyoti School and underlined the imperative of mandatory setting up of all basic amenities at polling booths. He also instructed street vendors encroaching on the footpath near HSR BDA Coflex not to set up their shops on major roads. He asked them to share the available space among themselves.

He asked officials of the ward to clear name plates, and ramps installed on the footpath of service roads. He inspected the newly laid HSR 6th Sector and suggested an action plan for drains. Chief Commissioner Girinath further asked officials to commence the work for the RCC wall at the Raja Canapl near HSR 6th Sector.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee playground in HSR Barangay 19th main road stadium has recently started the work to establish a kabaddi ground volleyball court, cricket pitch, walking track, indoor stadium, and basketball court. The inspection of the Begur lake was also undertaken.

The Chief Commissioner has asked ward officials to install sluice gates before monsoon sets in and asked them to speed up the other civic maintenance work around the lake.
