Bengaluru: Cracking down the mysterious case of a body found near Sunkadakatte, Kamakshipalya police arrested a private bus driver in connection with the murder here.
After a man's body was found in an open drain on January 13, the police sent it for post-mortem analysis and other medical tests to identify the deceased. During the test, it was found that his lungs and left elbow were damaged.
After booking the case, a team of cops started investigating missing persons and soon found out the family of the deceased. The person was identified as Venkataswamy. The wife of Venkataswamy told policemen that he was a bus driver and a drunkard. Thinking that he may have gone out on duty, they had not filed a missing case with the police.
They also said that as he was addicted to alcohol, so may have accidentally fallen into the drain and died. However Kamakshipalya police inspector Lohith was not convinced and scanned CCTV footage to ascertain the exact cause of Venkataswamy's death. One of the clips showed him fighting with his friend during which he died.
The police identified Venkataswamy's friend, Venkatesh, and arrested him. The drama unfolded after the arrest, police said. "The accused was furious when he found Venkataswamy's bus parked at the place where he used to park his own bus, over which both fought."
