Rs 5 lakh for Covid victims, promises Kumaraswamy

Vijayapura: JD(S)’ Pancharatna Rath Yatra continued to tour Sindagi taluk in Vijapura district on Thursday as former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy promised Rs 5 lakh to every family of Covid victims. He was accompanied by JD(S) state president CM Ibrahim and Raichur MLA Venkatrao Nadgouda on his trip to Kalakeri village in Vijayapura district where he made the comments.

“ When we c ome t o power, we will give Rs5 lakh in compensation to every family,” Kumaraswamy said. “They lied that they would give relief to every victim of Covid. This compensation never came,” he added, attacking the BJP State government.

The pancharatna refers to the five election promises of the JD(S): free education, free health care, free housing, addressing of farmers issues, and guaranteed employment for at least one member of the household. The party plans on covering some 120 Assembly constituencies under the programme. Elections are due in May next year.
