Bengaluru: In another shocking incident in the city recently, a security guard of an apartment complex within the Sampigehalli Police Station limits was brutally assaulted by a delivery executive and his friends after the guard demanded to check the executive's bag on Saturday.

According to sources, the incident occurred after a resident of the apartment had ordered groceries through a mobile phone application in the night. When the delivery executive arrived at the apartment, the security guard let him in after procedural questions.

However, while the youth was leaving the premises, the guard stopped him and insisted that he open his carry bag for a check. This demand was not well received by the executive who started arguing with the guard. Angered by the demand, the delivery executive called some of his friends from the area and with their help, assaulted the security personnel.

Disturbed by the noise outside, the apartment residents alerted the police who rushed to the spot. However, the youth had fled from the spot. Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage of the fight was later procured by the jurisdictional police, wherein the guard can be seen talking to the delivery executive and his friends.

A moment later, the executive and his friends can be seen thrashing the security guard. The security guard was taken to a nearby hospital. Following a probe on Sunday, the police reportedly arrested five persons in connection with the assault, sources from police said.

Further investigation is underway In June 2022, a 25-year-old food delivery executive was arrested for the murder of a security guard in the city. A fight over a parking matter outside an apartment complex near Kodigehalli Gate, off Ballari Road, had led to the murder.
