Bengaluru: Despite the transport unions' call for protest on Tuesday, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) on Monday said that it would ensure there was no disruption in bus services in the city.

“Being a public service organisation , BMTC’s main objective is to provide efficient and regular services to its commuters. There will be no interruption of BMTC services,” the corporation said in a statement, here.

Employees of the four transport corporations have once again call for a strike against the state government. The workers have demanded an end to the indifferent attitude of the government towards undertaking a wage revision hanging fire for the last six years.

“We have submitted a list of 14 demands but Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has not responded to it. There are vacancies in the department. However, the staff are being outsourced. We are holding the state wide protest to remind the government of our might as we serve over one crore people every day. The services will not be disrupted,” Anantha Subba Rao, the president of the State Road Transport Workers Union also said.
