VHP activist makes provocative speech

Tumakuru: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) member Sharan Pumpwell made an inflammatory speech in Tumakuru on Sunday during the ‘Shourya Yatra’ in which the organisation was participating. In a video being widely shared on messaging apps and social media, Pumpwell is heard glorifying the killing of Muslim youth Fazil back in late July last year.

Police believe that the said youth was murdered in Surathkal district in Dakshina Kannada district as revenge for the murder of BJP member Praveen Nettaru, which happened in Bellare town some 80 kilometres from Mangaluru city . “To send a message to the Muslim jihadists who murdered Praveen Nettaru, youths killed him (Fazil), not in some isolated corner, but out in the open.

This is the power of the Hindu youth,” Pumpwell is heard saying, to raucous applause from the crowd. About 10 days prior to the Nettaru’s killing, labourer Masood B was also killed in Bellare town.
