Bengaluru: Upon intensifying the probe to find a missing youth, the city police was in for a shock when it found his body dumped in a valley in the Charmadi Ghat of Belthangady taluk in Dakshina Kannada district.
Four persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of the youth, police said on Wednesday. Govindaraju, 19, a resident of Mathikere, went missing after he left his house on Monday. The family of the deceased boy alleged that they came to know that he was in love with a girl who was a student of a private college in the city.
On Monday, Govindaraju had texted the girl but she had left her mobile phone at home and gone to college. Trouble began after the text message was seen by the girl's brother-in-law, Anil. Without revealing that it was he who had seen the message, Anil texted Govindaraju asking him to meet 'her' near the JP Park.
When the youth reached the spot, he was abducted by Anil and his accomplices, who allegedly took him to Andrahalli on a bike and beat him up for texting the girl. As the youth died, the accused persons carried his body in a car to Charmadi Ghat and dumped it.
