Omicron patient being treated for pneumonia: Wife

Bengaluru: The wife of the 46-year-old anesthetist who tested positive for Omicron last week says she and her husband are both being treated for pneumonia. The doctor couple are in Bowring and Lady Curzon hospital. While the anaesthetist is no longer suffering from the Omicron variant, he continues to test positive for the Covid-19 Delta variant. However, two of the doctor’s secondary contacts, both his colleagues who tested positive for Omicron, have been discharged. The couple are being treated for secondary complications.
On Tuesday, NT reported that the medico-couple has not received any reports to date, including their repeat COVID-19 test. However, officials from the hospitals say the 46-year-old doctor still shows a viral load and is still being considered COVID-19 positive.
The anaesthetist’s wife, who had also tested positive for the Delta variant but not Omicron, said, “We are still being treated but haven’t received any reports yet. We are doing better than yesterday, however.” She told NT that the hospital hadn’t revealed the test results and that the information remained with higher-ups and the BBMP.
However, the couple said that they are being well taken care of at the hospital, in terms of facilities and food. She also said that her family is “coming to give us food now and then. We are managing.”
