Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a man who climbed up a coconut tree to pluck the fruit died of a heart attack near Mailasandra, Vijayashree Layout here on Sunday morning.

According to the eyewitnesses, around 7:30 am they saw Narayanappa, 60, climbing up a 40 feet high tree near Venkataramana temple. The person reportedly sat on one of the pinnates of the tree as several friends waited for him to drop a few coconuts down.

However, Narayanappa reportedly suffered a heart attack and succumbed to his death. Unaware of his death, his friends started calling him out but failed to get any response from him for a long time. Suspecting that he may have lost consciousness, they alerted the jurisdictional police who in turn called in a team of fire and emergency services personnel for help.

"Narayanappa seemed to be in an unconscious state when the personnel brought him down. The police shifted him to a nearby hospital where the doctors told us that he had died after suffering a heart attack," Shiva Kumar, one of the eyewitnesses, told News Trail.
