Two arrested on charge of molesting schoolmates

Preliminary police investigation has revealed that the two were class- mates of the victims while they studied at Jalandhar University in Punjab

Bengaluru: Two youths were arrested by the city police for attempting to rape their classmates hailing from Kashmir, during a late night party in Vivek Nagar Police Station limits here. Police identified the accused as Ajay Venkata Sai, from Andhra Pradesh and Aditya Abhiraj, a native of Bihar. Preliminary police investigation has revealed that the two were classmates of the victims while they studied at Jalandhar University in Punjab.

The victims were working in a private firm in Bengaluru recently. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday after the victims, who had gone to Commercial Street for shopping, received a call from Ajay requesting them to visit his place for a party.

The accused reportedly told the victims that he was returning to his hometown, so was arranging a get-together with friends before leaving the city. In their complaint to the police, the two women alleged that the accused had shared a Koramangala location where they reached around 11.45 pm, where they partied till 2 am.

Following this, Ajay played loud music and is said to have touched one of the victims inappropriately. The woman, in a bid to escape from Ajay, locked herself in a bathroom while Aditya forcefully took the other victim to a room and molested her.

Around 5 am, the accused persons booked a cab and asked the victims to go home. The women approached police later on and registered a case, following which both the accused were arrested and are currently being interrogated.
