Homemaker found dead, husband on the run

Police said that the woman appears to have died of strangulation. They have booked a case and are on the lookout for Sheikh

Bengaluru: A Kolkata - based woman was found dead inside her house in Varthur Police Station limits on Tuesday. Police said that they are on the lookout for the woman's husband, who is currently on the run.

The police have identified the deceased as Monisha, 24, and her husband as Sheikh. It is said that the couple got married in Kolkata and shifted to Bengaluru around four years ago. Sheikh had taken up a job as a labourer, while Monisha was a homemaker.

Preliminary investigation by the police has revealed that their house was locked from outside for the last two days. The neighbours, however, noticing a foul smell emanating from within, alerted the jurisdictional police who broke open the door and found the woman dead.
