CCB nabs 11 along with Rs 1.34 cr narcotics

Bengaluru: Continuing its drive against drug peddling, the Central Crime Branch, Bengaluru, arrested 11 people including two foreign nationals while confiscating narcotics worth Rs 1.34 crore from their possession.

According to sources, the arrested accused includes two nationals from Kenya and Tanzania, while the remaining were arrested from different areas in Bengaluru. Following credible information, different teams were formed to nab the accused, sources added.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner CH Pratap Reddy said that the drug peddlers had concealed the narcotics at an isolated place on the outskirts of the city and were dealing with their prospective customers by sharing pictures of the contraband items.

Joint Commissioner of Police, CCB, Dr Sharanapaa said, "When the deal was fixed, the drugs were supplied to the customers through delivery boys whom the accused persons had hired. Mostly, school dropouts from Kerala and Karnataka were lured into the racket to work as delivery executives by promising them lucrative payments. Most of the drugs were supplied to IT employees and college students in the city," he said.

Two Kerala-based drug peddlers were arrested along with 500 grams of MDMA crystals worth Rs 60 lakh. Two citizens of Kenya and Tanzania were arrested from Banaswadi by officers from the anti-narcotics wing of the CCB along with 200 grams of MDMA crystals, a weighing machine and 20 zip-lock bags.

Another team of CCB sleuths arrested three persons from Sudduguntepalya, who were allegedly involved in drug peddling from Kerala and seized 102.21 grams of MDMA crystal, 117 MDMA ecstasy pills weighing 43.43 grams and 83.67 grams of hashish oil from them. Two Kerala natives and one from Meghalaya were arrested from KR Puram.

The officers seized 100 grams of MDMA crystal, 219 LSD strips, 7.52 grams of MDMA ecstasy pills and three mobile phones from them. One more from Kerala was arrested in Bandepalya along with 21.24 grams of MDMA crystal, a mobile phone, and a weighing machine.
