Bengaluru: Two love-lorn youths allegedly attempted suicide in two separate incidents in the city. In the first incident, a 25-year-old youth, who was in love with a girl, allegedly consumed rat poison alleging harassment by the Kadugodi police. Suresh, a resident of Bhovipalya near Sarjapur, alleged that he was in love with a girl residing in Seegehalli.

However, with the intervention of her parents and relatives, the girl started avoiding him. Later her parents approached the jurisdictional police following which the cops warned Suresh to stay away from the girl or he would be arrested under rape charges, he alleged.

Unable to bear the harassment, Suresh allegedly smashed a beer bottle on his head, slit his hand and posted a video of his act on Instagram. Soon after the incident came to light, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield, S Girish sought an explanation from the jurisdictional police.

Later on Friday, he said, "Two days ago, the girl’s father, who runs a mutton shop, lodged a complaint with the Kadugodi police. In the complaint, the girl’s father said that Suresh, who works in his shop, used to behave inappropriately with his 16-year-old daughter and used to trouble her over the phone. The Kadugodi police had registered a case and summoned Suresh to the police station."

Further, he said that they have come to learn that Suresh attempted suicide in Sarjapur police limits and that he has been hospitalised. "Based on the nature of the case and the Sarjapur police register, we will proceed with the case registered at Kadugodi police station," he added.

Suresh has been admitted to Balaji Hospital in Sarjapur where he is battling for life, sources told News Trail. In another incident, the police personnel at Chandra Layout police station were shocked when a 30-year-old delivery executive approached them for an inquiry after consuming poison. The person, Anil, a resident of Chandra Layout, was accused of harassing a married woman.

However, it was said that both were involved in a relationship for a while. Later when the husband came to know about the matter, the wife stopped meeting Anil. Enraged by the developments, Anil began forcing the woman to continue the relationship after which she approached the police seeking help.

A complaint had been filed against Anil accusing him of sexual harassment, criminal intimidation and verbally abusing her over the phone. According to police sources, Anil was summoned to the police station for an inquiry in connection with the case on Thursday.

He appeared for an inquiry but he also informed the police that he had consumed poison before coming to the police station, sources said. The police rushed him to KIMS hospital where the doctors treated him. The sources added that currently, Anil is out of danger.
