Bengaluru: The exodus from the Janata Dal (Secular) continues with Gubbi MLA S.R.Srinivas announcing that he will join the Congress Party soon.
Already, Arsikere MLA K.Shivalingegowda and Arkalgud MLA A.T. Ramaswamy have openly expressed their willingness to switch to the Congress Party. A few more sitting JD(S) MLAs have finalized their plans and are likely to jump ship soon.
As hinted by KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar, more than 15 JD(S) legislators have decided to join the Congress Party as they are not sure of getting re-elected to the State Assembly on the JD(S) ticket. Gubbi MLA Srinivas said party workers, friends, and well-wishers want him to join the Congress Party and that would happen in the next few days.
The day to join the Congress has not been decided yet and it could happen after the budget session. Like him, several JD(S) legislators are ready to join the Congress in the next few weeks. “Party workers want me to join the Congress and I don’t want to disappoint them”.
Srinivas also confirmed that Shivalingegowda will soon join the Congress. Even Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Siddaramaiah has already indicated that Shivalingegowda would join the Cong ress Par ty soon. “What more evidence do you require”.
