Bengaluru: A pharmacist in a private hospital here allegedly committed suicide by jumping off from the Tipu Drop, atop Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapura taluk.
The deceased, identified as Arun, 20, and a native of Ambarahalli in Mandya taluk, was reportedly staying with his friends at a PG in BTM Layout. On February 11, Arun had gone to Nandi Hills on his bike with a group of friends.
Arun, who got separated from the others after taking a different route, did not return from the hill. The security person to whom Arun had handed over his helmet before going up the hill got suspicious when Arun failed to come back for his helmet.
The suspicion got stronger when Arun's bike remained in the parking lot well after others had left. He waited until Monday before alerting the Nandi Giridhama Hills Police Station of Arun's disappearance. CCTV footage cops scanned revealed Arun going up the hill, but not returning. A search led the cops to his backpack. They went on to find his body in the gorge below the drop.
Sources from the police said a death note was found inside Arun's bag, which however did not reveal the exact cause of his death, but spoke about “poor state governance”. The police, with the help of locals and Arun's relatives, retrieved the body and registered a case regarding the incident.
