Refused money for alcohol, grandson beats man to death

Bengaluru: A youth has been arrested by the Banaswadi police for allegedly killing his grandfather over the elderly man’s refusal to pay for his alcohol.

Police identified the accused as Anthony, a resident of Kammanahalli and a construction labourer here. Anthony is said to have asked his grandfather Joseph Rs 10,000. Aware of his grandsons’ addiction to alcohol, Joseph refused to give Anthony any money, which angered the latter.

A verbal spat ensued between the two during which Anthony took a wooden log and allegedly struck his grandfather on the head. Joseph was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died, police revealed. Banaswadi police arrested Anthony and initiated a thorough investigation.
