University of Mysore gets new acting VC

Mysuru: Senior political science professor Muzaffar Assadi (in pic) was appointed as acting Vice Chancellor (VC) of University of Mysore, starting Friday.

A notification confirming the same was issued by the office of the Governor of Karnataka Thaawarchand Gehlot on Wednesday. “I, Thaawarchand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of Universities in Karnataka, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 16(2) of the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000, hereby appoint Prof. Muzaffar H. Assadi, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Department of Studies in Political Science, to act as Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore, Mysuru,” the notification said.

Professor Assadi said that he is delighted with the appointment. He added that he would comment on his new responsibilities only after assuming office on Friday
