
CM provides more teeth to police department

Bengaluru: The state budget announced by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai here on Friday included a surprise gift for the city police, which has been reportedly struggling with shortage of staff for the past few years.
While the interim budget had funds allocated to almost all departments of the state, the Bengaluru police had their share of bonus announced by the CM. It was announced that in order to strengthen the police system in Bengaluru, an additional 2,000 posts will be created at various levels in the police department. A grant of Rs 240 crore has been allocated to the department to construct 116 police stations across the state.
The CM also ordered the repair and renovation of the existing police stations to provide a modern touch. Construction of four new traffic police stations has already been announced in Bengaluru to ease traffic in the city. Further it was announced that 9 law and order and six women police stations will be established in the city this year.
