Person who attempted to set fire to a pawn shop, arrested

Bengaluru: A person who had attempted to set fire to a pawn shop in Giri Nagar a few days back, was arrested by the city police. The accused has been identified as Basava, 45, who was working as a car driver in the city.
On February 13, the accused had visited the Tulasi pawn shop near Muneshwara Block and had demanded money from the shop owner, Bhavar Lal. When the owner refused, Basava allegedly hurled abuses at him and woved to burn down his shop.
A little later the accused returned to the shop with a bottle containing petrol and poured it on the counter table, set fire to it before fleeing. Bhavar Lal suffered minor burn injuries on his back as he attempted to stop the accused. Later he was shifted to a hospital for treatment. Giri Nagar police, after taking up a complaint regarding the matter, nabbed the accused. Interrogation is on
